Information About OriginArt

A brief history of OriginArt

OriginArt was establshed in 1995 by Dennis Bundy. With many years of experience
previous to this creating graphics and programming in "basic" on Commadore home
computers. Dennis recognised that with the coming of the internet came a cross
platform opportunity. HTML would provide a media format that could be read on
any home and business computer that could browse the internet.

With his wife Michelle now becoming involved with her growing interest in
computing, Dennis set out to launch his company OriginArt onto the world stage of
the internet by creating something that would show the potential of the internet.
He decided to combine his knowledge and skill with his local environment, Shetland.

By creating a feature for the internet he would set out to create a virtual map
of the islands that would showcase his companies ability to cope with large
projects and modern techniques. He saw the possibilities that the map would bring
to the Shetland Isles itself, for one thing it would encourage local interest in
the internet, furthermore it would attract interest from internet visitors.

By 1999 the idea had developed enough to start, for the next 2 years more than
10,000 photographs were taken, and more than 9,000 webpages created. Feedback was
coming in from around the globe, much of the interest came from the United States,
Australia and New Zealand. In fact emails arrived from more than 20 counties but
none from Shetland, it seemed that the world had noticed the work Dennis had put
in but Shetland had not.

It was decided to contact local businesses and offer them an economical way to
hitch a ride with the project and advertise their business on the net. The costs
would be unprohibative and would create work for OriginArt.

Slow on the uptake of modern ideas, as Shetland can be at times, many declined,
but a few foresighted businesses, primarily in the accommodation sector, took
advantage of the offer.

Since the completion of the map project, OriginArt has been involved in a wide
range of internet projects and has daily learned more of the technologies that the
internet offers. We have been involved in a vast array of management teams from
website design to server setup, management and maintenance, running real time
audio and video communication channels, and with our network of assossiated
colleagues across Europe we keep abreast of new techniques and technogolies as
they appear.

We can now offer our clients affordable internet services that are guaranteed to
meet their requirements and offer or advise on other potentials that may
compliment their needs.
